Our Story

The Mill Wine Bar & Event Venue is excited about bringing life back to the Texas Mill & Elevator Company. We are a family-owned and operated business that values faith, celebration, unique experience and the opportunity to share that with others. We are excited to offer guests a wide variety of great wines, a rotating selection of craft beer, and unique food options from our very own Mill Feed Truck. Our Feed Truck serves sharable plates and desserts Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, & Saturday, with our weekly Steak Night as the food option on Thursday nights.

Our Team

Bridget McDowell and Mindy Howard are a mother/ daughter team working together to make The Mill a great addition to Abilene.  Bridget has worked in public finance for over 28 years and lives in Abilene with her husband, Gerry, whom was the general contractor of the refurbished flour Mill.

Mindy

Mindy Howard graduated with a Biomedical Science degree from Texas A&M before moving back to the Big Country. She and her husband Blake remain active as owners and to bring great wine, unique event space, and new atmosphere to Abilene that the Mill continues to be the premier event venue and date night location in the Big Country!

 

Amber Wallace joined the Mill in 2017 as the Director of Events and has now moved into the General Manager Role.. She has followed her Air Force husband to Abilene for the 3rd time and they are happy to be back! Amber grew up on her family’s farm in southern Ohio and received her degree from The Ohio State University. She was the Director of Events at Topgolf in Alexandria, Virginia and then the Catering Director at Abilene Country Club before moving over to the Mill. Amber’s experience, love of wine and passion for planning a great event will ensure that the Mill continues to be the premier event venue and date night location in the Big Country!

Heather

Director of Events

Heather Lindsay joined The Mill in December of 2017 when she and her husband relocated to Abilene for his job at Dyess Air Force Base. After a few months she accepted the role as Director of Events in February of 2018. Heather received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2012 from the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Ohio.

She brings her love for creating an exceptional party, creative spirit, and warm hospitality to The Mill.

Heather has worked in the services industry since high school.  She brings a wide range of experience from running and planning events at The Columbus Country Club, Columbus Ohio and as a manager of numerous prestigious restaurants in the Cincinnati Tri-State area. In her spare time Heather enjoys traveling, searching for unique and exceptionally made wines, and teaching fitness classes as a certified Barre Pilates instructor.
